Coffee was the nectar of the gods as far as Alecsander was concerned. He didn't think there was a single other thing on Earth as meaningful as coffee. A couple of cups turned 'fuck off' to 'good morning, world!' Well, maybe that was a bit far fetched, even for Alec. Nothing he did was quite so cheerful. But he was a little more tolerable on coffee. "Merci." He told to the boy behind the counter as he took and paid for his coffee with those credits they gave them for pay. He made his way to a table in the back and sat down, putting the books formerly under his arm on the table. He took a sip of his coffee, sitting it on a corner of the table where he couldn't knock it over. He opened the first of his books, pulling the pen out from behind his ear to start taking notes in his little notebook.

Being held in that holding for the past two days under careful scrutiny was not something that she had obviously enjoyed. She didn't know what had happened, she didn't know why she was given the treatment that she was given. She had yet to figure out what she was doing here exactly, but she knew that she felt incredibly sick. And in the past, the only thing that had managed to make her feel better when she was this nauseous was coffee.
And since, for some reason, they were allowed freedom here, Rio was going to take advantage of that.
Walking quickly from the testing center, she shrugged the hood of her jacket up to cover her unruly brunette hair, her steps quick and short, trying to get her to any sort of destination that wasn't that center. She had been hopeful about coming here and now it was the last place that she wanted to be on earth. She wanted to be back in prison. Feeling extremely sick, she ducked down a side alley and lost the contents of her stomach, which wasn't very much. Heaving herself dry, she raised a shaking hand to her forehead, trying to make heads or tails of this situation. If she truly was capable of murder, as she had been accused, she would certainly start knocking heads together. Instead, she released a small groan and then continued on her way after throwing a piece of gum in her mouth from the bag she had been given.
And there it was. Coffee. Not knowing if she had the funds or whatever she needed to pay for a cup, she was going to do whatever it took to get her hands on a cup. And that meant stealing. Walking into the shop, she didn't pull her hood down, but her expressive blue eyes darted around the entire shop. Noticing a cup of coffee that was resting on the very edge of one of the tables, Rio saw her chance. Shuffling forward, she suddenly dropped her bag behind the man, causing a ruckus that would hopefully get his attention, even though he seemed busy taking notes. If it worked or not, she wouldn't know, but she stealthily crept by the table and swiped the cup of coffee quickly, ducking out of the shop at the last moment. With her hands wrapped around the cup, she took a relieved sip, glad that it seemed she had gotten away with this.
