Deacon carried the trays for both him and his daughter, glancing back at him occasionally to see if she was still toddling behind him in her green and white dress. He sat their trays down, then leaned over to pick her up and put her in her chair. She smiled up at him, then pulled her tray close to eat. It almost killed him to know his daughter was no better than the rest of the people around here. She was normal as can be, yet was still doomed to eat this horrible food, and spend what time the nurses didn't have her for in the morgue with her dad.
He poked at whatever was on his plate. He wasn't exactly sure it was even real food, but Bandit was having a ball eating it. He finally gave up and pushed his tray away, no long hungry for anything.

Aureolin didn't really know what had brought him here.
Perhaps hunger was a factor, but the angelic boy hardly ate near others. Anti-social in the least, he seemed out of place in the mess hall, glancing around with an uneasy gaze, keeping his wings folded at his back. A few white feathers drifted lazily in his path, a symptom of a recent pill they had him taking. He apologized quietly to a girl who now had a feather on her back, and brushed it off for her, before continuing on his way.
Finding the only table that wasn't too occupied, the winged boy paused a moment, coming face to face with the deacon and his daughter. Lowering his gaze, he asked politely, despite the fact he was clearly unsettled. Aureolin was a special case, but then, weren't they all? He looked to the small girl, offering a weak smile. She reminded him so much of Maria, his own little sister.
The items on his plate didn't look too appetizing, but he was hungry once again. "I hope I'm not a bother... There's no other place to sit, Sir."

Deacon watched Bandit eat on her fries happily, her bright blue eyes looking up as a patient walked over. "Hi!" She told him with a smile, waving her small hand at him. Deacon's gaze wandered over to the boy as he spoke. "I don't mind. It's usually freakishly crowded around here." He said quietly, slowly tearing apart a napkin in his lap. He wasn't one to hold a conversation. Considering he spent most of his day diagnosing crazies and with dead bodies, he wasn't exactly a talkative person. Bodies didn't talk back.
His daughter made a car sound, pushing her french fry across the table. Deacon reached over, putting it back on her plate so she would eat it instead of play with it. "Daddy!" She complained, pushing the fry at him. He sighed, putting it back on her tray. "Sorry. She's a people person. She likes eating with other people." He told him as Bandit nudged her milk at him, smiling happily.

Aureolin nodded his thanks and took a seat across from the man and his daughter. He didn't say a word out of place, though what was seemingly taken as manners was truly unparalleled fear. He was deathly afraid of all the staff, though he hid it well in public. A subtle tremble of his hands, a quick glance at the man before him, it was the only sign that gave away his feelings toward the older.
As The little girl nudged her drink towards him, Aureolin blinked and looked towards her, pausing with his lips slightly parted, a some scrunched up salad on his fork, he didn't have to force the weak smile as he put his silverware back down and reached over, putting it back where it was. "It's alright, sir." he murmured, "I'm... Very used to it." he seemed distant as he looked off at some point past the sweet little girl, "My little sister, Maria, turns six this year, I believe..."

Deacon didn't bother looking up from his napkin he was tearing apart. He didn't think the boy was going to leap across the table and strangle him or his daughter. He could hear Bandit humming a song, poking at her french fries before she found one to her liking and stuck it in her mouth. "You don't have to call me sir. I'm not much older than any of you are." He mumbled. He'd never cared much for titles. 'Doctor' was enough as far as he was concerned.
He nodded at the boy's statement, taking the fry Bandit offered and putting it on his tray with his untouched food. "She's gonna be two in December. All I had was a little brother. Perseus. He's running around here with the rest of you guys. Only I'm sure he's a lot more.. hyper than the rest of you." He shrugged, taking another fry from his little red head.
