There wasn't a day that Deacon didn't have a million thoughts running through his head. His job consisted of thinking. A lot. But lately, he'd been annoyed. He couldn't figure out why aquatic people were dying, why they were seeming to suffocate. But mostly, he couldn't figure out why he'd so much as give a patient ten years younger than him a second thought. The boy had a million people here to be with. And the coroner wasn't one of them. The coroner was supposed to be straight.
"Stop thinking so hard, Deac. Your hair's a flaming." Perseus said, throwing a sugar packet at him. Green eyes found his brother's blue ones before he looked down again. "What crawled up your ass?"
"I'm not as smart as you, PJ. Everything doesn't come naturally.." He mumbled.

Ashley was confused and lost. Every time he looked for a familiar face they vanished in the crowd. Even Set had vanished, not answering his calls or his pleas. Everyone had abandoned him for somewhere else. Sure he could be difficult but Ashley had never thought he would be all alone. Tears began to fall from his cheeks, faster and faster as he walked to an unknown destination. He couldn't be alone, he just couldn't. Nothing made sense when he was alone. Images flashed through his mind lacing the present with the past, seeing ghost images of his father every time he turned. Finally Ashley fell through the doorway of some random room, not even knowing where he was.
As soon as his feet his the linoleum floor of the coffee shop lights began to flicker and the taste of copper filled the air. His gray eyes scanned the room as tears continued to fall, looking for any sort of familiar face. Nothing. No comfort, no one. Not even something half familiar.

Deacon swatted away his brother's hand as Perseus reached over to pat his head. "I am THINKING!" He complained, looking over as the lights started to flicker. He didn't understand why the people around here were insane enough to give these kids such weird abilities. What did flickering lights do for anyone besides give Deacon a headache? He saw his brother look up, then cover his eyes. He knew his brother was prone to horrible headaches at the smallest things now. Bandit yelled too loud and Perseus was in a ball with a migraine.
"Are you done playing with the lights?" Deacon asked the boy, leaning back in his chair. He folded his arms over his chest. But instead of warm and comforting, his face was cold and isolated. He couldn't afford to grow close to anyone else. It was just going to end in him losing his job and becoming one of them. He watched Perseus brush past the boy, his hands up to his head, his face twisted in pain.

Ashley was confused and unable to hide it. As he looked around the room he felt like he was staring into some other world. Nothing looked the way it was supposed to and for a few moments he covered his head within his arms, trying to protect himself from this nonexistent world. The flickering increased as tiny sparks began rolling around on his skin, growing larger and larger as his confusion and fear mounted. Finally one of the light bulbs began to burn far too bright and exploded raining tiny shards of glass all over the unlucky customers. Ashley felt someone brush past him and instantly cowered away, unwilling to look up at anything or anyone until he knew everything was okay. His body began to ache as the sparks increased, each one arching out dangerously close to the light bulbs and metal doorknob.
[[La~La~ If he doesn't help i'll have the pain make Set return so he's leashed again... And then notice Bandit if she's still there?]]

Deacon was content to sit there while the boy played with the lights. He was used to everyone messing with everything else. But once one of the light bulbs burst, he grabbed a creamer and hurled it at the boy's head. "Snap out of it, for fuck's sake!" He screamed. He'd just about had it with the crazy patients around here, acting like they had no good sense or like they were better because they could play with the lights. He wasn't about to go touch him though. Not if he was a shock-y as he looked.
"If I call your nurse, she's gonna throw you in a padded cell. Fucking calm DOWN." He knew he probably wasn't making anything better, but he didn't care. He wasn't here to make them feel better. If they wanted to feel better, they could go find a nurse or someone to sleep with.
