The rays of the sun had began to warm the enclosed area of the hospital. There was a slight breeze, but it wasn't even strong enough to rustle the grass. The clouds seemed to mimic fluffy white cotton balls. Across the field, Adele rested on a bench. Her hands were working through her hair, trying to comb out the tangles. A soft sigh escaped her lips, and she finally gave up, crossing her arms in front of her. It was a pretty nice day out, but Adele hadn't fully woken up yet, even if it was noon. Her tongue ran thoughtfully across her lip as she looked out into the grassy area. It was quite bland, nothing really jumped out at her. Sliding from the bench, Adele took a soft spot in the grass to lay back on. Her hands rested beneath her head and her legs crossed at the ankles. She starred quietly up at the sky, watching the clouds shift and change as they made their way across the blue canvas.
It was looking to be a long day and Adele was happy to find a few moments of solitude. She knew there wasn't much chance of it lasting long, but she might as well enjoy it for as long as she can. Her stomach rumbled quietly in protest, but she felt like she could push the hunger just a bit further.

Driscoll had been busy doing this and that for the new tests they were running, making sure his ward was taken care of -- read; injections sorted out and given, etc. -- and he had barely gotten much time to do anything for more then twenty minutes every now and then. Today he'd gotten a bit of a break, though it wouldn't be for long. He decided to take it going on a little walk outside in the fresh air. Been awhile since he'd gotten outside, so he figured it might do him some good. Just a little time from doing documentations and checking up on patients.
Of course 'fresh air' wasn't exactly his style, so he'd lit up a cigarette as he moved along; lost in his thoughts. It was hard to get his mind off his work now that he had dived fully into it since getting here, and there were a few experiements that he had been pondering in the back of his mind when he wasn't working on the current things given to him to do. More mutations to figure out and apply -- he always did have a thing for body modification -- and that was quite fun for him to debate over. This line of work was a lot more interesting then he had been doing before for hospitals or even the Irish mob. He wasn't even flipping Irish anyway!
Soon enough he realized that another staff member was nearby, laying in the grass. Driscoll didn't know much about her other then she was part of the staff and he'd seen her passing by once or twice. Different wards and all, so he hadn't really gotten around to talking to her. Well, he could fix that, he supposed. Taking another drag of the cigeratte, he paused a few feet from her. "Hello. Mind some company?" Mild mannered words as he waited for a response. It wouldn't matter too much to him what she decided, he could just as well find someone else to talk to if she wasn't in the mood.

A male voice interrupted the silence that had fallen over the grounds. Adele's eyes shifted to meet the man's face. What was his name again? Driscyle? It was something along those lines. Sitting up, she offered him a smile all the same. "Not at all. Go ahead and find a nice, soft spot of grass." A innocent smile passed over her face as she patted the ground with her hand.
Adele was a bubbly a girl. A smile was usually attached to every sentence she spoke, and so it was nothing new to treat the male as if they had spoken plenty of times before. "You do the mutations, right?" Moving around, she sat Indian style, making it easier to observe him.

There was no rush here, no need to do anything for a little while, and he certainly did enjoy that feeling of not needing to be anywhere just now. Sure, his work would always linger in his mind in some way, but he did not have to focus on it right now. Which was why he could be friendly with the other staff for a few moments, maybe even find out a little about this one in particular. When she sat up and offered a smile, Driscoll managed one in return for her. It wasn't overly much as an expression, but he wasn't a cold sort of person, just a little distant and focused on what he needed to do.
However, the female was friendly enough, and at her words, he eyed the ground for a second, then moved over to settle on the grass near where she'd indicated. Driscoll did not make a habit of sitting in the grass, but it wasn't so bad, and he had some company that wasn't pressing him for patient information or bringing files to and from his office. This made it a more pleasent sort of conversation -- or beginning of one -- in general. At her question, he gave a slight nod of his head. "Yes, but just the very recent ones. I cannot take the credit for what the previous doctor did." He responded calmly, flicking a bit of ash aside from the cigarette. "And which ward are you working in?" He inquired, still not sure which it was.

Her hands rested in her lap while her eyes traced around the bone structure in his face. It gave her an eerie feeling, but it wasn't bad. She felt that if someone was re-doing a Frankenstein's Monster movie, he could be Frankenstein. "The mental ward." She found all the wards to be rather interesting. Adele was happy to be where she was none-the-less. It wasn't like she didn't see the other wards at all. "You know, your look fits your job pretty well." She commented, unable to hold it in any longer.

Driscoll did not mind being looked at, even inspected as it sort of felt that way to him under the female's gaze. But he was plenty used to it, seeing as some of the patients did it, and it made sense. He did observe them quite a bit, inspect things when needed. Certainly any new mutations had to be looked over closely, and it was only fair that he be scrutinized from time to time as well. He wouldn't quite know what to say about her observation opinions, but he wouldn't be offended by it. Amused and curious as to why, perhaps. But that was all. He wasn't here to really judge. Just do his work, which he happened to love.
With her words on which ward, he gave a thoughtful nod. Mental. The things one usually couldn't see. Quite a choice. Hiddent hings and all. "If I might ask; why did you decide on that ward?" The question was light and friendly enough, he only wanted to know why she had wanted to be there instead of any of the others. It was a choice that might give insight into who she was. Though he did have to crack another smile -- nearly a grin -- when she spoke again about his 'look'. "Why thank you. I do aim to fit into my field of work, even if I cannot participate in the specialized modifications themselves." And it's clear by his voice that he would like to, if it weren't such a risk to do so.

Her shoulders shrugged lightly. "I've always found the brain rather interesting." A soft smile played across her lips. Adele had also chosen the mental ward to look after her brother. She didn't understand why he had chosen to come to this place, but she certainly couldn't just let him come alone. The boy was quite odd at times. "My brother's also a patient in the mental ward. So that probably made the decision easier." She began to pick at the grass in front of her. Her eyes would switch between the blades of grass and the company she had.

He waits for her answer to come, but he isn't impatient about it. This is rather nice, just taking some time out of the day to talk about things rather then specific testing or documents that he has to get to. Not that he usually minds talking about his work, but there is still plenty of things he must do that's not quite of his field, and then there's the writing everything down and filing it that he wasn't perfectly fond of. But he does it because it needs to be done or it's been commanded by the doctor himself. And by that he ment the one in charge of the whole thing. Those were orders that he did not mess with. He got what he needed done when it came to that, even if he didn't quite like it, or it did not fall into his area of work. These things happened, and he dealt with them accordingly.
What the female gives for an answer is actually a good enough one to satisfy him. He agrees that the brain is interesting -- not as much as the body and all that -- but it is a good answer and it tells him a few things about her. So he nods his head, pondering that a moment more. And once she spoke of her brother being in the mental ward, that made sense as well. "Yes, I suppose that would be a factor in the choice." A pause and he looked at her, wondering a few things. "Are you okay with all the things they must do to him while he's here? It would be rough, I think, to watch a sibling go through some of this stuff. Certainly if people are playing inside his brain...." Perhaps he should not have asked these things, but there it was regardless.

Of course her response was, 'no'. It was still an argument every time she had look after him when he finished one of the treatments. "This certainly wouldn't have been where I would have chosen to go." Adele looked down to her hands before back to the doctor. "But Jayden is as stubborn as a mule, and I rather be here checking on him than miles away wondering what was going on." She shrugged her shoulders and went back to picking the grass. This place had promised to helped with problems, but it just seemed to be causing new ones. There wasn't much she could do about it though. "It's gonna take some getting used to. What made you want to do mutations?"
