Deacon had been paged that a new patient was there to be evaluated a few minutes earlier. But being knee-deep in paperwork had prevented him from going when they'd asked. He knew they were angry enough at him for being 'out of line' lately, but he couldn't help it he was busy at the moment. He finally grabbed an empty chart and pulled on his clean yet blood stained white lab coat. He was probably the only one who didn't care that his clothes were always soaked in blood. It came with the title. He walked slowly out of the morgue, figuring his assistant was already waiting.

Derek headed down the hall slowly, had been called down to meet with the new patient until Deacon could head that way. Slinking into the waiting room, he rubbed at his jaw, careful not to open his mouth and scare the unknowing patient off. "So, new here, huh?" Calculating eyes watched him as he sat down, hands resting on his knees. "Mm..." The guy glared at him and he chuckled. "Be as bitter as you want. It's not getting you anywhere."

Deacon finally made his way up to the waiting room, watching Derek for a moment. He was oddly proud of him, going from a crazy to a staffer. But pride was about where it stopped. He never felt anything for anyone. This job drained him of whatever emotions he had before, which wasn't any. He pulled his pen from his pocket, running his tongue slowly over his bottom lip. "I'm doctor Rudman. I'm the coroner." He looked over at the guy, his green eyes blank.

Calm eyes raised to look at Deacon. Derek had come in fighting when he was first brought here. He'd been pissed, held a grudge. But when they found out he had been working on a pre-med major, they'd appointed him as staff. It didn't mean he didn't still get tested occasionally, to see what they could change in other patients. But he was far more respected than before. He scooted over a seat for Deacon, folding his hands together and staring at the floor before taking the notepad and pen from Deacon. He would let the other guy with the normal teeth do the talking.

Deacon flinched a bit when Derek took the file from him, drawing his hand away slowly. He was used to his mother yanking things out of his hand to hit him with. Eighteen years of abuse didn't settle well with someone. He sat down next to Derek, messing with one of his fingernails. "You're going to be here for a really long time. Your testing will begin somewhere in the next three days to the week." His eyes wandered over him, looking for any sign he was going to lash out at someone. "Can you tell me your name and date of birth?"

"I'm sorry.." Derek murmured gently when Deacon flinched. It wouldn't be the first time he had accidentally startled him. He looked towards the kid, hesitating as stubborness broke way to fear. "Cole Gryffon..." The by's voice wavered, Derek marking the name at the top of the paper. He had checked in another Gryffon the day before, rose an eyebrow. Siblings?

Deacon nodded slowly, reaching up to rub his nose gently. Bandit had yanked on his piercing the day before, causing it to bleed everytime he tried to clean it or touched it. He was pretty sure she had torn something. "Did they promise they were going to help you with something?" He asked him. He'd never been the one to break it to them that what they expected to happen wasn't really happening. They were living a nightmare now.

Derek watched them quietly. "They promised... They could help my brother walk again...and my other one with his addictions and..that if I came, they could use me to help my twin..." Tears glinted in his eyes and Derek sighed softly, slowly shaking his head. It was fucked up, the lies these people could weave, the false hope they could give off just to get one more test subject.

Deacon chewed on his lip though his green eyes darkened in sorrow. He almost felt bad for the little family. They seemed so broken. "Okay, well.." He sighed, looking over at what Derek was writing. "Sane, nonviolent.. Seems to be a creature of habit.." He looked down at his thumb, scratching at the knuckle. "We'll get you a room, okay?" He told the boy quietly.

'Sane, nonviolent, creature of habit'. Derek stared at the pad as he heard the boy sniffle and mumble an 'okay'. He didn't need to see him cry, know he could warn the kid but wasn't allowed. He was probably frightened. Derek couldn't offer any comfort. Tearing the page out, he flipped to their list of available rooms open before testing, and handed it over to Deacon. "His brother came in yesterday, meaning the rest would be today." He tapped the room. "Wheelchair bound."

Deacon nodded, making a mental note to make sure the two were boarded together after their first round of testing was done. If the boy was supposed to help his brother, he'd make sure at least that part of their promise was carried through. "I'll.." He glanced back at the paper Derek had shown him, then gently took the pen from him to write the number on his hand. "Show you to your room." He finished.

Derek took the pen back gently, taking a single look at the boy who looked back with frightened eyes. He looked away, clearing his throat as he stood. "I'll...be in the morgue," He mumbled. He closed the notepad, getting up quietly, aware of the kid watching him go. He'd neer been a people person, one for emotion.

Deacon nodded, slowly running his hands over his dark jeans. He finally rose to his feet, putting his hands in his pockets. He couldn't help wondering why there were so many teenage boys here all of a sudden. This boy, his twin, Connor.. He didn't think Jordan was much more than a kid himself. He would have smiled at the boy had he not thought giving him a false hope would be wrong. He waited for him before he started down the hall with his head down.

Derek looked back, watching the boy follow Deacon down the hall. He turned and wandered back down the hall, hesitating as he noticed the door ajar. Deacon must have left it. Walking in however, he was met with a surprised face and dark wings. "What the hell are you doing here?" Derek's eyes flashed, teeth baring as he stared at Connor. Was he dropping Bandit off? But she wasn't here. "Answer me, dammit." He stalked closer, blinking as he stepped in blood. The teen swallowed and Derek stopped short, eyeing the bloody scalpel. He grabbed the other male's arms, cut from his elbows to wrists. Eyes met glazed blue ones. "Well fuck."

Deacon walked back to the morgue with his head down, those emotions of seeing the boy like he used to be finally being buried back where they belonged. He rolled his eyes at the open door. 'If Derek doesn't know how to shut fucking doors by now..' He thought, then stopped short as he saw Connor. "Fuck." He muttered. "Sykes, you're the reason I have a fucking job, you know that? You're in a morgue. Do you think we need gauze for dead people?" He walked across the hall to a closet, grabbing a sheet. He ripped it apart, walking back to the boy so he could wrap his arms.
