'My god he's adorable,' he thought, smiling a bit. "I have a little brother. But his eyes are blue as the ocean." He said quietly, looking down at the sugar packet so he wouldn't have to look at Jordan. He always felt odd looking at people. "Kinda like Bandit's."

Jordan felt Deacon's mood shift, lighten up a bit, and he relaxed some. "I think I've seen him," He murmured, nodding. When Bandit was mentioned, he smiled faintly. He had been made aware she was missing, so he was careful not to bring it up. "She's adorable," He breathed sheepishly.

"Probably. He's annoying enough." He said, trying to sound bitter. Had his brother not been annoying, their childhood would have been very dull. "Thank you. She's a mess." He smiled, raising his cup to his lips to finish his coffee. "Might have to appoint you Bandit cuddler when I'm not around." He teased.

Jordan laughed almost nervously. "Maybe.. I've never dealt with kids much.." They seemed too fragile, despite how adorable he found them to be. That and he had never really had a way to deal with them, since he'd lived with his brother, or their cousins. He cleared his throat, rubbing at an eye before pulling his coffee close again for another drink.

Deacon had heard people say that a lot. It seemed a lot of people didn't like kids much anymore. "I had a little brother so.." He shrugged. Hed always adored kids. They always made him smile. "I guess I was used to having a little shadow following me around."

Jordan bit the inside of his cheek, stopping when he tasted blood. "I have a little sister. It has just...been a long time." He licked his lips, finishing his coffee and setting it aside. "But I could get used to it." Impish, and just as shy as ever.

"A kid's a lot of work. You can't give them back to your mom and dad like you can a sibling." Deacon said quietly. "Kids aren't one size fits all like everyone thinks. It takes a lot to be a dad." He smiled a bit. He didn't want to lead the boy on and make him think all kids were easy as a two year old. "Bandit was small and scary when we -i- brought her home."

Jordan nodded. He heard the stumble of words but brushed it off. "Well.." He whispered. "For the record.. She turned out quite decent thanks to a good father." He ran a hand through his hair to hide how nervous he was with the compliment. It made him all that much more shy.

Deacon looked away at the compliment. The boy was making it really hard to pretend he didn't like guys. "Thank you. I'd like to think she gets it from her mom." He said quietly. He had never liked her mom more than a best friend, but Bandit had a lot of her mother in her.

Jordan smiled, deciding not to open the can of worms that had just been offered with Deacon's comment. It wasn't any of his business. He shifted his weight some, still glad Deacon's feelings weren't as dark as they had been.

Deacon tugged on his ear again, suddenly aware of how bad it hurt again. "You should talk more. That accent of your's is-" sexy, he was going to say. But that would have been horribly odd. "-really nice." He finished slowly, almost skeptically. 'I sound like an idiot.' He thought.

Jordan flushed, unable to hide his smile. "Ehm..thanks." He huffed sheepishly, playing with the table top. He squirmed self consciously. "I don't know, I learned to stick to my own..don't have reason to talk much."

Deacon chewed on his snakebite a minute, suddenly terrified that Jordan could feel when people were attracted to him. That didn't exactly seem like fair play to him. But maybe he couldn't. He sure hoped he couldn't. "You're welcome." He said quietly.

The brief terror and nerves threw Jordan off a bit and he blinked. He did his best to try and hide his reaction to people's feelings. Sometimes they were just overwhelming, and he couldn't even pinpoint wha they were. Especially if he had never felt thembefore. But that brief pang of worry? He had.

Deacon looked him over a moment, managing to finally choke back everything but his physical pain. He was used to being cold and distant. He didn't have a choice. "You gonna go back to school?" He asked quietly. He didn't know what kinds of courses they offered here. It was probably just up to high school for all he knew.
