"Yeah?" She smiled, bringing the soda to her lips. She took a small sip, then sat it down on her leg. She watched him slowly, trying to take in everything about him. He certainly was a piece of work, she'd give him that. And if the second and third impressions were as good as the first, Peaches would be hooked. "Oh please!" She blushed a bit, waving her hand at him. Everytime she did it, her father said she looked just like her mother with her tissue. 'Waving was like you two's way of snorting when you laughed,' he'd tell her. "I didn't fall off the apple truck yesterday. A man like you sees many women, darling. Many many women."
She tipped him a wink and a sideways smile before she brought her can to her lips again. "Touche, dear." She said before she took a sip. She leaned over, putting it down on the table. "But no. Not often. Then again, it isn't often someone turns my shadow into a bird either."

He couldn't help but burst with laughter as she began to wave her hand at him."That's different. You said, 'ladies like me.' And it's true. I've never met a girl quite like you, and I've only known you for what? Twenty minutes or so?" Catching her gaze, he paused to hold it just a bit longer before giving a small smirk.
"Not to many people can do that. It's one of my more recent impressive skills," Khole winked playfully before taking a sip from his soda. It turned out that skipping Damian's little basketball match was a good idea. There was no doubt Khole would be drilled with questions once he returned to the ward, but that was fine with him. He'd do it again if it meant he could bump into her again.

Peaches smiled at him, playing absently with the hem of her skirt. "But I'm not a girl. I'm a laaady." She smirked, drawing out the last word. Her smile didn't fade as she caught his dark eyes. 'Oh, he's certainly wonderful..' She thought, looking over his face for a moment. "To be fair, there's not a lot like you, either. Personality wise, I mean. Most people are grumpy and icky and just no fun to be around. They suck the fun right out of you. You kinda.. radiate."
She chuckled, rising to her feet to walk back to the copy machine. She pulled the copies out, and put them on the table to separate them. "If you help me carry these upstairs, I'll buy you lunch. And not icky lunch either. Like.. fattening lunch. Doughnuts or something." She glanced up, giving him a smile before she leaned back over her papers.

The corner of his lips curled into a smile at the word radiate. Giving Khole a compliment was like telling a kid they can buy at a toy at Wal-Mart. It didn't matter if the compliment had everything to do with him or just a little bit to do with him. Maybe that was why he was never in a bad mood. All the compliments he had collected over the year put his ego over the edge and it took a lot to bring him down.
Placing the almost empty can on the table, he let his eyes wonder over the papers Peaches had began to seperate. Looking at his wrist, he pretended to check the time. "I guess I have time for that," He teased playfully. He scooted the chair back before standing up and dusted his hands on his jeans. "What stack would you like me to grab?"

"This stack, if you wouldn't mind." She said, gently pushing it towards him. She silently questioned why someone would think someone as small as her would be able to carry a two foot stack of papers all by herself. She was lucky she'd ran into Khole. She pulled the other stack over to her, carefully unbuckling her shoes. She hooked the straps on her fingers, picking up her stack of papers. "It weighs more than a child!" She groaned, walking to the door. She carefully pulled it open, holding the door open for him with her bare foot.
She started towards the stairwell again, carefully climbing the stairs so she didn't slip on her stockings. "I guess that's why everyone thinks I'm so darn odd. I never wear shoes." She smiled back at him.

Eyeing the stack of papers, he wondered just how she would have gotten these papers without him. "Mm, I don't know about that. It might way more than a feather," Khole chuckled as he picked the stack up into his arms and headed after her.
It was quite funny to watch her ease herself up the stairs. "You not wearing shoes isn't the oddest thing I've seen you do today." His eyes would dart from watching Peaches to his feet and then back again. He was careful to make sure he didn't trip, but he was more scared that Peaches would fall than him. A sigh of relief escaped past his lips as they reached the last stair.

"I'm just an odd one, mister Grinch." Peaches smiled, carefully opening the door. She lead him down to the office that had asked her to make the copies. She put her stack on the desk, then leaned against the wall to pull her shoes back on and snap the clasps. "Doughnuts work? Or we can get some milkshakes." She offered, dusting off her hands as she straightened back up. She twirled a long curl around her finger, looking at him a moment with a bright smile before she started walking slowly. She was in no hurry to get anywhere. Not now. She wanted to spend as much time with this man as possible before she had to get back to work.

Mister Grinch? Peaches was turning out to be a character. From the way she moved across the floor to what she spoke, there was always something to keep his interest. After he sat the papers down, he stretched his arms up into the air before he turned to face her. "Do they have those glazed doughnuts with like the chocolate sauce on them? I haven't had one of those in awhile."

Peaches shrugged, playing with the leash for the poodle on her skirt. "I have no idea, love. We'd have to ask. I know they gave powdered. And brownies." She smiled, waving to one of the nurses as they passed. She wasn't surpised to see the woman watching Khole like he was the most amazing thing she'd ever seen. Peaches was certainly starting to think so. "Are you the only one here? I know some people have siblings here." She looked over at him, her faded eyes finding his dark ones. She was reminded of chocolate. And she adored chocolate.

"Eh, I'll settle for brownies. Those are better than doughnuts anyway." He gave the passing nurse a glance, but it barely lasted a second. Khole probably wouldn't have noticed if Peach hadn't waved. But that was typical. He wasn't known for paying close attention to his surrondings. Once, he had driven an hour past the beach, because Damian was asleep in the passenger's seat and Khole was jamming out to music. If Damian hadn't of woken up, he probably would have driven further. "I came here with Damian. He's usually no further than five feet away from me, so I guess you could call him a brother." Khole chuckled at the thought. Damian was like Khole's other half, but instead of them doing good together, it usually ended with trouble.

"Me too. They've got far more chocolate." She said with a smile. She looked down at her feet a moment, listening to him talk about his friend. "Yeah? I used to have a friend like that. Only he moved away. Went into the army and they stationed him in Korea." She smiled over at him, then looked down at her nails. She wrinkled her nose, picking at one with chipped polish. "Guess I gotta redo these." She grumbled, opening the door for him. "Between you and me, I eat all the chocolate in the vending machine." She winked at him, closing the door behind them before she started towards the coffee shop.

He had a some-what smug smile as he drifted down memory lane. He and Damian had created many unspoken vows about the things they did, especially if they hadn't gotten caught. "Was he like a special friend?" Khole bit his lip at the end of his question. Hecwould hear Damian's voice in his head, 'smoothhh.' He chuckled as he passed through door, a soft smile began to pull at his lips. "I won't as long as I can have some too," Khole bargained playfully. His steps matched hers, even though he wasn't quiet sure where they were going yet. He never did much exploring, always going to the same place or Damian knew where to go and he would just follow.

Peaches looked over at him at the question, shaking her head. "No. He was like.. Kinda like my dad, I guess. He was always there when all the kids were teasing me. I grew up kinda poor." She shrugged, reaching up to fix her sleeve. "I never thought of him like that. Always seemed kinda gross, you know?" She chuckled, leaning down to pluck up a flower. "Of course I'll share my chocolate with you! Can't think of anyone more fun to sit and consume the entire chocolate stash with." She smiled, offering him the small yellow flower. She thought it was kind of cute, him asking about her friend. She'd never really had anyone to talk to to begin with. And someone as sweet as him? Even better.

Khole was a rather good listener, even if it seemed like he was distracted. That and reading lips were two skills he developed pretty quickly, but he had to. He couldn't just start trouble without knowing what was going on around him. A smile slipped onto his face at her laugh. He gave a mental sigh of relief and his hand worked through his hair as he chuckled at her next words. "Then your secret is safe with me," Khole reached out, taking the flower into his hand before tucking it behind his ear. "What do you think? Is it a good color?"

Peaches smiled when he tucked the flower behind her head, nodding earnestly. "It certainly brings out your complexion. Whatever that is." She'd loved fashion, never the odd terminology they used. Eighteen hundred different words for a heel, thousands of styles of this or that. It was confusing and hard to remember. She opened the door to the coffee shop for him, walking in behind him. "We'd like two brownies, please." She said with a smile, knowing the boy would just charge her for them. She couldn't be expected to constantly carry her money around. But she could be expected to pay them back just as soon as she did have her money. It was only right.
