Waka, waka, waka. Waka, waka, waka. Pacman zipped across the screen as he ate the dots and avoided the ghosts. The sound of a dying pacman and a groaning male filled the arcade. But it wasn't long till a new game was started up. Khole had been playing constantly for the past hour, and with every 'GAME OVER', he was growing more and more annoyed. He was never really any good at arcade games, but he had grown tired of being in the gymnasium.
Another soft growl escaped his lips, and he finally decided to leave the game alone. His chocolate eyes scanned around the room as a small smirk slipped onto his lips. Khole moved swiftly across the floor, making it to the door in a few seconds. He made his way out into the hall. His head turned, looking in both directions before deciding to take a left. He slinked close to the wall, stopping only when he came to a crossing of the halls.
Khole positioned his self in the dim light of a corner. On the wall across from him, he began to move the shadows around. The shadow began to twist into different shapes, stopping when the shape of a little monster appeared. Khole chuckled softly to himself as he made the shadow monster sneak towards the edge of the wall and then opened it's mouth wide.

Peaches wasn't sure when 'record keeper' took on the new meaning of 'the person everyone gets to run all their useless errands'. But being who she was, it wasn't any surprise she couldn't tell any of them no. She loved helping people. Even if she knew most of them thought she was either a freak or a whore. More the former than the latter, she found it useless to waste her breath arguing with them. She wouldn't change their minds, but she knew the truth.
She nearly tripped on her way down the stairs with the stairs. She wasn't used to the heels she had on today, much preferred tennis shoes or Converse. Anything but heels. 'Stupid meeting with the stupid head has me in stupid heels. Who am I here to impress?' She thought bitterly, checking to make sure she didn't break an ankle or something before she rounded the corner. "OH GOD!" She screamed, dropping her folders and papers she was holding. The people around here never failed to scare her to no end. Now they were making shadow monsters. "Giving new meaning to the boogeyman, are you?" She asked with a chuckle and a smile. She bent down carefully to pick up the papers across the floor. She was about to lean up to walk across the room and get the rest of the papers when she lost her balance and ended up on her butt in the middle of the floor. "Whoops!" She said more to herself than the man there. "Silly heels. These things weren't made for walking."

His focus was lost and the tiny monster dissipated away at the sound of a frightened squealed. He let out a light chuckle as his eyes settled on the maker of the squeal. Whole hadn't even had the chance to respond before she fell to the floor on her butt. He stepped over to her and crunched down, giving a toothy grin as he locked eyes with her. "I thought I'd give it a shot." He grave a shrug and began to pile the papers into a stack. "How'd I do?" He asked with a slight smirk. With the papers in his right hand, he held out his free hand for her to take. Khole stood slowly, giving her a small pull to get her back up to her feet.
"New to walking?" He laughed softly as he let her hand fall from his. His eyes wondered over her figure, stopping once they reached her face again. He hadn't seen this girl before, and he wondered how he could have missed her.

Peaches couldn't help but stare at the man for a moment. He was terribly handsome, but it was his eyes that really drew her in. How could someones eyes be so dark? They were lovely. She smiled, nodding her head. "You did wonderful. Scared my papers right out of my hand! Real talent you got there, buddy. Able to induce a heart attack with a single shadow." She teased. She just wanted to see that toothy grin again. He was a charmer, this one. Not a lot of people even gave her a second glance. And yet, he was willing to help pick up her papers for her.
She took his hand gently in her own, allowing him to help her up. "Fairly new, I'd say. Just taking a tour. See if I'd prefer crawling instead, you know?" She said, fixing her skirt. Only she had the nerve to run around in a poodle skirt like she fell out of a tv. The tight curls she'd put in earlier had fallen into softer ones from the walking she'd done. "I think I might try running next. When I get real shoes and not these things."

"I'd practice walking a little bit more if I was you. Wouldn't want such a pretty girl like you to fall and break an ankle." Khole teased playfully as he held out the stack of papers for her to take. She was a sight fore sore eyes. Her blond curls framed her petite face while her clothes went back a couple of decades. If he didn't know better, he would think he had stumbled upon a movie set that was set in the 1950's. "Oh, how rude of me. I scared you and still haven't introduced myself. The names Khole, and I play with shadows." A chuckle escaped past his lips as his fingers moved through his hair.

Peaches smiled, gently taking the papers from his hands. The last thing she wanted was to give him a paper cut or something. That'd be a horrible first impression. Though she didn't think that falling in the middle of the hall made a much better one. At least it'd be here with the bruises later and not him. "I'm Peaches. I play with papers." She smiled, holding out her small manicured hand. There wasn't anyone around here to do her nails, so she had her father bring her nail polishes when he came to see her so she could do it herself. "Don't be too scary! You don't wanna be frightening anyone. You seem far too nice for that bag of tricks."

His some-what soft hand met with her's, and a smile flashed across his face as he spoke, "Maybe I'm just nice so no one would suspect me?" Khole's eyebrow rose slightly, but he couldn't keep a straight face for long. He was more of joker than anything else. He did anything from a fake spider jumping out of a cabinet to letting the nurses in the orphange believe Damien had cracked his head open during one of the little brawls they had. Not all of his jokes went over smoothly. Like the day he planned to sabotage lunch. Everything was working out as planned till it was time for lunch. The fake bugs in the food had magically came to life and the one mouse had split into at least seven little ones.
It wasn't untill a month of slop had passed that Khole had discovered the truth. Damien had decided to do his own little prank, which meant he had to foil Khole's. "Would you like some company to where ever you were headed? I can make sure you don't fall."

"Very true! I didn't think of that!" Peaches giggled. He was clever and funny, two things she'd always admired in her father. She didn't have a mother to know how a lady should act, so she'd hoped she was doing a half decent job of it. If all else failed, at least she'd given it her best shot, right? She really couldn't be blamed. All she knew about acting lady-like was what she'd learned from TV. She didn't have any aunts or older sisters to learn from.
"I would love some company! I have to run down to the copy room to make copies of these.. things. I don't even know what this is." She said happily, smiling up at him. In heels, she could actually almost see people eye to eye. It was nice to not have to be looked down someone's nose at. "I certainly hope so. I don't like looking like a fool twice in one day." She started walking slowly to the nearest staff stairwell, unclipping her keys from the back of her skirt so she could unlock the door.

Khole watched as she headed toward the stairwell before walking after her. "You were in a hurry to make copies? Well, that makes me glad I decided to come as a patient and not to apply for a job." He laughed, "I might be foreced to stay here, but at least I can make shadow movies." His tongue stuck out playfully as he caught up to Peach.
"So, Ms. Peaches, what brought you here?" Khole never really bothered to ask others of why they came to this hospital, but they were usually patients, not staff. Everyone knew why the patients were here, they wanted a fix to their problem. The staff were a different story.

"I so wasn't in a hurry!" She contradicted. Not that she could remember anyways. She often forgot things, so she never argued. Or most of the time anyways. She wasn't above picking with the man before her. "Well I can make Post-it note movies, so ha!" She tossed him a charming smile. It was true- Peaches probably went through more sticky notes than anyone else. Most of them weren't even notes but doodles she'd made when she was bored and had nothing else to do.
"Well.. I went to school for cosmetology. But no one wanted to hire me. And I always helped at daddy's work doing the filing. Someone told him about this place, and he suggested I apply. I can't say I have as much reason to complain about this as much as you guys do." She shrugged, pushing open a door with her elbow. She put the papers by the copy machine, taking a moment to separate them into stacks.

A smirk worked it's way onto his lips, and he caught himself starring as he followed her up the stairs. She was cute, that was for sure. His eyes fell to his hands as he laced his fingers and cracked them. It was a habit of his when he tried to clear his thoughts. Following Peach into the room, he gave a quick shrug of his shoulders before looking around the room. "Depends on the day. I could go without a few of the things they do here, but not everything is that bad."
Walking over to the copy machine, he leaned a part of the wall that had nothing in front of it. "Being able to play with shadows is pretty fun." Khole chuckled as he twisted her shadow into a bird.

"Yeah?" She glanced back at him, hoping she hadn't hit a nerve. "I've heard a little but not much. I never really asked." She shrugged a bit. Peaches had never really been concerned with what went around here. To her, knowing what they did was like dating a co-worker; it just made matters far more complicated than they had to be. And she was one who preffered to get her work done with as little drama and heartache as possible, because the little he'd heard was already tugging her heart strings. She didn't wanna think anyone had to undergo that.
Peaches smiled, glancing back at her shadow. It was kind of cool what she could do. She couldn't remember seeing anyone else do that. "It is kinda nifty. If we're lacking the light to make our own shadow birds." She gave him a gentle grin before she fed the papers into the copier. "Might wanna stop playing with your birdy friend, though. Don't want someone coming in and making a fuss about you being in here, huh? Might get Peaches in trouble." She teased.

His shoulders rose in a quick shrug. There wasn't much to say about what went on in the testing rooms, or any of the other closed doors around here. But, maybe it was just the way Khole thought. He had never been one to focus on bad things, and he was rarely in a bad mood.
He laughed at the mention of trouble, which sent the bird flying back to her regular shadow. Khole never expected playing with shadows would take much work. At first, it took all of his concentration just to make something as simple as a vase. But it was easy to tell he had been practicing, not like there was much else to do though. "Well, I wouldn't want that. Especially since from this day forward, I'm gonna have the chance to see just how many times I can see your pretty face and scare you." He chuckled and offered a grin.

Peaches was beside herself. She couldn't understand how someone could possibly be so adorable and have such a bubbly, happy personality. This man was just.. amazing. Plain and simple. She gave him a smile, reaching for a pen and a blank sheet of paper. "Why you gotta scare me?!" She pretended to whine, writing down what this stack of papers was in her small, delicate script. She put the paper on top of the others, then moved to the fridge.
"We always have orange juice. You don't understand how much I despise this stuff." She complained, pushing the small cartons to the side to get a can of soda. She sat one for him on the coffee table before she sat down. She crossed her legs, popping the tab on her soda. "You're often so sweet to ladies like me?" She asked with a smile.

"Your scream was pretty cute, not shrill like some girls." Khole followed over well after she dug her nose into the fridge. Her complaint made him chuckle, and he didn't see how anything else could be more entertaining at the moment. Sitting across from her, he pulled the drink close and popped the tab open. At her question, he couldn't help but give a smile that showed his pearly whites. "I wouldn't know. Your the first I've met."
There was no denying, Khole was a charmer. He knew how to win a girl over and had done so many times before. But today wasn't that kind of day, and something about Peaches sparked an interest in him. "Do you invite most people who scare you to accompany you on walks?" He smirked playfully as his eyebrow rose slightly.
