Insane. It wasn't the definition of Zabel, Zabel was a definition of Insanity. Mismatched eyes flickered and he yawned and stretched on the bed. They kept him down here where it was special staff ony, where few would see him. Catlike, graceful, he got to his feet, chains sliding across the ground, around an ankle. He sang softly as he moved, then began to laugh, rubbing at his arm. Temporary tests, weird things. He was the lab rat, the one they tested new products on before using them on specific patients. An odd concoction, really. He wasn't sure how long he had been kept down here, away from the world. Like a we fed pet. Eyes flicked up at footsteps in the hallway. "Strange." He drawled to himself. Wasn't the door usually closed and locked? A crazed grin. He sat down and traced the chain down to his ankle, talking softly under his breath, laughing occasionally.

Vials. She was sent to fetch vials from the lab. She couldn't hear them to know exactly what they wanted, so they'd written it down. She walked slowly to the lab with the box they'd given her. She'd thought helping would help with the violence, but nothing had. She had a broken wrist from where she'd been yanked into another room. Not to mention bruises virtually everywhere. But the worst hurting where the ones on her jaw.
She nudged the door open, not even noticing the person there. How would she? She couldn't hear. She walked to the freezer they'd told her to, sitting the box down on the ground so she could open it.

"She doesn't notice." Zabel hummed, getting up. He moved closer. The chain was just short enough to keep him from reaching any of the chemicals, though he had his ways when he needed them. Hebwanted to.... He wanted to play. Something. Somebody new to interact with. Had they forgotten about him today? What time was it?
Fingers tapped her shoulder, head tilting as he laced his fingers together behind his back and bounced. Who was she? Mismatched eyes, cpearly not natural, flickered and he bent to pick up the chain, holding it out. For all he knew she was staff coming to let him out, taking him to the bathroom or maybe somewhere else.

Thaleia nearly dropped the vial in her hands at the tap on her shoulder. She didn't expect to be in anyone's company. She turned around, a gasp she'd never hear escaping her mouth; partially because she hadn't expected someone to be there and partially because he was.. scary. They really were making monsters here. 'I can't hear you,' she signed, even if she didn't know if he'd said anything. He was terrifying. Who -or what- was standing before her? She took a step back, her back meeting the counter top behind her.

Zabel blinked at the gasp. He wasn't used to it, was used to cold stares, steady comands. He watched her, then a smile curled his lips. "Hear no evil." A nod, and he tugged the chain in question, looking down at his ankles. "What to do?" She couldn't here him. He rubbed at a tattooed arm, then moved towards the bed in the corner, a book, drawings and writings within. Scarily neat handwriting. He grabbed an ink pen and in neat scrawl wrote 'You can't hear? You here to take me?' And handed it over.

She watched him walk over to the bed, her eyes wide in shock. He was amazing in the most horrifying way possible. She felt like sobbing just looking at him. He seemed like a gentle creature, though. But she couldn't tell if he was talking to her or talking to herself. She drew away as she was handed the notebook, looking at him curiously. She slowly took it from him, reading over the writing. She shook her head, then pointed to the freezer she had open. She handed his notebook back, watching him intently.

Zabel gazed at her attentively as she looked at the notebook. But when she shook her head, he frowned. They must have forgotten he was here for somebody to accidentally see. He took it back. 'Zabel' he scrawled. 'I live here.' He smiled faintly, passing it back and looking around. "They forgot? Breakfast. Hm." He mumbled to himself.

Thaleia watched him write, slowly taking the notebook from him as he handed it out. She read over it, taking the pen to write 'Thaleia' in her small script. She handed the notebook and pen back to him, but not before reading his lips. He was hungry? She fished around in her pocket, pulling a granola bar from it. She offered it out to him, wondering where everyone was. She didn't think he'd be here alone. But then again, she didn't understand why he was chained up. Was he dangerous? Should she even be feeding him? But how could someone so gentle be dangerous enough to pose a threat?

Eyes flickered and he laughed, taking the offered food with a hum, pausing mid reach to study finger shaped bruises on his arm. "Oh." He rose an eyebrow, then took the granola bar and opened it slowly, taking a bite before retreating to his bed and sitting on the edge of it. He glanced back up, talking softly under his breath, agitation briefly in his eyes, unstable. He eased up after a moment, thoughtful. Curiosity got the best of him though. 'What are you getting? You work here?' Were there others like him?

Thaleia shrugged her shoulders, then shook her head. She looked from his chains to him, then back around the room as hse tried to calculate just how far he could go. She turned back to the freezer, carefully loading the glass vials into the box on the floor. She didn't know what this was. All she knew was it was labeled with some sort of code, each vial numbered between 024 and 152. There really was no telling what she held in her hands.

"Huh." Why was she in here then? If they were letting somebody else in, they usually took him out. He supposed her could use the bathroom down here, got up and headed towards the single stalled room, closimg the door as much as the chains allowed. Then he washed his hands and wandered back out, collapsing onto his bed woth a smile. He saw nothing wrong w org how mistreated he was, unless they were truly hurting him. Chains clattered on the cement floor as he moved, watching her.

Thaleia put the vials into their slots carefully, counting them silently once she was done. She closed the freezer, putting the box on top of it. She put the insulation on top, then closed the lid, taking it by the handle. She looked over at the man again, watching him curiously. But what she found most interesting was the fact he was watching her. He must not be around people much. But a deaf person wasn't much company at all, the way Thaleia saw it.

Zabel blinked, tugging at his chains again. "They promised." He breathed, eyebrows furrowing. They had said he would be taken to do something. Why did they have to lie? But this woman had sparked his interest. He wanted out. It had been awhile. He'd only left the hospital itself once or twice since being locked here. He reached for his paper and pen. 'They promised. Lies. They always lie.' The scratches weren't as neat now, confused, upset. 'Why?' "Nobody know me.." He muttered, scribbling scratches into the paper. But she could simply walk away, say nothing. She could bring it up to someone. She cpuld wonder. Either way, he was the hospital's property. Just a lab rat, messed up and unstable. He could be smart, but he was damn insane. And this deaf woman had discovered a secret of Chaspel Heights.

Thaleia felt bad, knowing he was here alone. She didn't like the idea of having him here alone, no one around to talk to or comfort him. And there wasn't much she could say to him besides the few words she did know. She put the box on top of the freezer, pushing it back a bit so it wouldn't get knocked off. She walked slowly over to him, sitting down carefully across from him so her skirt wouldn't rise. Her blue grey eyes looked him over, her hands wringing together in her lap. She was screwed if he lunged at her.

Zabel glanced up as she sat down on the bed. At least it was semi-comfortable. He smiled faintly at her, but after awhile, the presence of company threw him off. He was getting agitated that they had forgotten him. And, himbeing him Zabe had every reason for a random freak out. Suddenly legs were drawing under himself, chains clanging. The scribbled on paper had been shredded and fell like confetti as he laughed, then screamed in agitation. In just moments he was pushing off the bed and grabbig at the young woman.
